Welcome to LSA Recreational Soccer
Recreational soccer is a way for children to learn the beautiful game in a low-pressure and fun environment. Outdoor soccer is played in the fall and spring. Official scores are not kept, and players should receive 50% playing time during games. Kids are divided into age groups based on the year they were born and gender, then taking into account personal requests. Requests are not guaranteed, but we do our best to accommodate as many as possible. The “U” in the age groups stands for under. For example, a U12 team will have children ages 10 and 11.

Tiny Kicks (U3)
Tiny Kicks (TK) are children who are three years old. It is the player’s introduction to soccer. They meet once a week on Saturday for 45 minutes. Kids are broken into small groups and play fun games intended to engage them on the field and teach them to play alongside peers. The first season your child signs up for TK they will receive a shirt and size 3 ball as part of the season fees.
Youth Rec (U6-U8)
Our youth players range from ages 4 to 7 years old and are broken into U6 and U8 divisions. They practice once a week for 45 minutes to an hour.
The U6 age group begin to learn the fundamentals of the game, basic rules, direction of play, and understand the basic purpose and structure of the game. Players are focused on just themselves and their ball. At U8 they learn the basic principles of attacking and defending. The transition of play and how they work together. Players are starting to want to play with their friends.
Coaches will act as the referee during games. Players will need a LSA reversible black and white jersey for games.
Junior Rec (U10-U14)
Our junior players range in age from 8 to 13 and are broken into U10, U12, and U14 divisions. Teams will practice for an hour, two times a week.
The U10 age group increase knowledge on attacking, defending and transitions as a team. The players are starting to want to work together as one. When they hit the U12 division they are learning the fundamentals of their roles, positions, and tasks. Players are starting to focus on how they help the team. At U14 they learn the alignment of how each role now works together as a team and learn team tactics. Players start wanting to be better for the team.
These age groups have the opportunity to compete against teams from Lansing, Fort Leavenworth, and Tonganoxie. Players will need a LSA reversible black and white jersey for games.
NOTE: 8th graders who are age 14 are allowed to play in the U14 division.
Fees & Jerseys
Fees are due at registration. Seasonal fees do not include the reversible jersey. Jerseys can be purchased during registration. We use the same jersey from year to year and they may be reused each season. They can also be purchased at the concessions stands during opening day.
